The Cherry Pie Inn and Restaurant

Much of our local hamlet of 'Melin-y-Wern' (The Mill on the Alder Marsh) owes its origins to the Water Mill (built circa 1805 and still with its wheel in place) at the heart of our community today. Records indicate that milling by water wheel has taken place on this site for over four hundred years.
Wern Mill

The Mill, now known as 'Wern Mill', until recently housed a gallery exhibiting the works of resident artists - Now Wern Mill is a private house.

The central building of 'The Cherry Pie' was the Miller's house, built in the mid 19 century. The adjacent building, Farrier's Cottage started life as a granary and is now a residence.

A second, five storey granary is now the residence of the owners of
'The Old Mill Private Hotel', which is itself located within what were the stables and cart store of the Water Mill.
Situated on the very edge of the Clwydian hills official Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and close to the Offas' Dyke long distance footpath, Melin-y-Wern is an excellent location to commence a day's hill walking.
